Five (5) Things Your Medical Practice Should do on Google

  1. Set up Google Alerts to get notified when someone mentions your Practice or your Name on the Internet (When Google Finds it, you get notified) Google Alerts here: http://www.google.com/alerts.
  2. Claim your medical practice's Listing on Google Maps: This is very easy. We see map listings on Google that have incorrect information and even ms-spellings. A lot of these listings were added by a third party.
    1. To claim your business map listing on Google, first you need to find yourself on the map,
    2. then click more...
    3. when the listing shows in your browser look for the link in the upper right that reads business owner?.
    4. click it and claim your listing. (you will have to use your Google account or create one, be sure to use your real email address)
    5. Edit the listing and hit save at the bottom. It is that easy. They will call your main office number to verify it is you.
  3. Encourage your customers to go on Google and review your practice. (Only ask the nice customers to do this, you will find that the grumpy ones are never happy and will tell everyone it is your fault)
  4. Check google to see where your practice comes up for phrases you think your customers might search on i.e.
    • If you have a Pediatric Practice in Frisco TX search for all the relevant phrases with the city name attached like Frisco Pediatrician
    • You should note that 80% of the people click the top 3 results - consider the top 3 spots are like being first in the Yellow Pages of old.
  5. If you are not in the top 3 for your key medical phrases then you should call a reputable Search Engine Optimization expert like SEOTA to help move you there. The difference between making money online is tied to those top 3 spots.
